What conditions can acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture can be used for a wide range of conditions such as pain disease, emotional problems, stress, infertility and skin disease. It can also be used alongside with the conventional medicine in the treatment of both acute and chronic disease.
Acupuncture will not only help to relief the specific symptoms or conditions, it can also help to deal with the underlying causes of the disease, leading to an enhanced state of wellbeing,  such as energy levels, motivation, appetite and sleep patterns.

What does acupuncture feel like?

Acupuncture needles are very fine and solid, they are different with the needles used in injections. When the needle is inserted to your body, you will feel a little bit stinging. You may feel a dull ache or your body will feel a bit heavy after the needle is inserted. The type and strength of the sensation varies from person to person, and also varies depending on the location on your body.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture needles are very fine and the sensation is usually mild and lasts only for a moment. Sometimes, you may not feel anything at all.

Is acupuncture safe?

The British Acupuncture Council sets out a Code of Practice which lays down stringent standards of hygiene including the use of sterile, single-use disposable needles. These procedures have been approved by the Department of Health and provide protection against the transmission of infectious diseases.
Acupuncture is a low risk, safe and non-invasive therapy with no side effect. After treatment some people may feel mild bruising, headaches or lethargy. However these symptoms will disappear after a short period of time.

Are Chinese herbs safe to take?

How to prepare the herbal tea from the powder?

1) Take out 5g of herbal powder and put it into a cup, add 50ml hot water to dissovle it, drink it when it becomes cool, twice daily.
2)The taste of the tea may not be so pleasant. You can add some sugar or honey in it if you prefer, but do not put any milk in it.

What will happen on my first visit?

After you fill the consultation form, our doctor will ask about your current symptoms, your medical history, your diet, sleeping patterns and emotional state. And then the doctor will check your pulse on both wrists and your tongue will be examined. Your blood pressure may also be taken. Normally, your first acupuncture treatment session will follow the initial consultation.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments really depends on the individual conditions. It is therefore very difficult to tell how many treatments will be needed but an estimate can usually be given following the initial consultation.
